Q. What is the tannin content in Rooibos tea?
A. Rooibos only has about 4.4 percent tannin content, compared to 12 percent in black tea, which means that it does not have the astringent taste associated with camellia sinensis and will not become bitter even after long steeping times.

- A: A properly brewed cup of Rooibos Tea will be slightly acidic with a pH in the range of 5.0 to 6.0. A neutral pH is 7.0. The pH of each cup of Rooibos Tea will be affected by the quality and source of the water used to brew it.
- Q: Are the tea bags chlorine bleached?
- A: No. Vital Organic Rooibos Tea tea bags are made from oxygen bleached paper.
- Q: Is Vital Organic Rooibos tea irradiated?
- A: No. Vital Organic Rooibos tea undergoes testing for microbiological contamination prior to export from South Africa. Only microbiological contaminant free product is sent to Australia.
